CFS-TIPS began Phase I limited contractor and provider referral services in
January 2009. These services will be available to TIPS members through a Call
Center to which requests for assistance can be made. Vetted and preferred service
providers, contractors, and vendors will be recommended to the caller to fulfill their
specific requests. These contractual services will be provided to, and paid for, by
the calling TIPS member. The Call Center will also provide callers information on
existing Fairfax County Services which are available to them.
During the next few months, TIPS will continue soliciting and collecting the names of
volunteers willing to assist in TIPS administration and operations as well as in its
volunteer neighbor helping neighbor program.
A background check will be
conducted for all volunteers before they are accepted for volunteer services. TIPS
will additionally conduct volunteer orientation and training before any volunteers are
utilized. Once volunteers complete this process, we will begin Phase II which will
incorporate their volunteer services to assist TIPS members and in the
administration of TIPS. The starting date for TIPS Phase II is yet to be established.
TIPS will spend the time from now until then to adequately plan and prepare for the
provision of services. We intend to gather ideas regarding the wants, needs, and
preferences of members who have already enrolled as well as potential members.
With this information TIPS will develop needed and reasonable services that will be
sustainable over time.
Some of the menu options on our website reflect the potential services and
opportunities we would like to see implemented.
