If you want to find others who share your interests and activities in your home community.
If you want assistance in obtaining transportation to shopping, appointments, and social activities.
If you would prefer having volunteers who want to help you, rather than asking neighbors for favors.
If you want to take advantage of CFS-TIPS services and programs supplied by volunteers through a whole “network” of support.
If you want to rely on “vetted” vendors and contractors to help with required tasks and purchases rather than trying to seek recommendations from someone you know.
If you want to take advantage of discounts provided by these vendors and contractors because of purchasing arrangements made by CFS-TIPS.
If you would like CFS-TIPS be your advocate with any vendor or contractor that may not perform to your expectations.

If you want peace of mind in your own home as you grow older, the membership dues are a bargain and much, much less than paying for retirement or assisted living support at some central facility.

Does it work?

Yes, based on the success to date of Boston’s Beacon Hill Village, the model which began in 2001, and other similar organizations now spreading across the U.S. at a very rapid rate.   Even Government agencies have recognized the advantages of seniors remaining at home as long as possible, both for the individual and for the reduced costs.

re age limits on CFS-TIPS membership?

No, however we are focusing on members 60 and older as we develop programs and services. As our organization grows and matures, we will open membership to a wider age grouping.

Are there geographic boundaries on the membership?

Yes. At start-up, we are limiting membership to those residents in the Clifton/Fairfax Station area, generally south of Braddock Road between Union Mill Road and Ox Road (Route 123). We have selected this area for the program initially to keep it to a manageable size and because the absence of neighborhoods with other houses nearby can contribute to the sense of isolation and difficulty remaining in their homes for aging members of our community. We may expand the membership area at a later date.

What about those residents who may not be able to pay the full membership fees? Is CFS-TIPS only for those residents who are well off?

CFS-TIPS definitely has plans to assist those residents who are not able to pay the full membership fees.   If you or your household want to become members of CFS-TIPS and cannot afford the full membership fees, please contact one of the officers or members of the Board.   We will meet with you and do everything we can to assist.   During our initial start-up phase, we will have limited ability in this area, but we expect to be able to provide much more support as time goes on.
